Data Protection & Privacy Policy

Summary

You don’t want your data falling into the wrong hands. We feel exactly the same way. That is why we are doing everything we can to make sure your data is 100% safe with us: we only ask for users’ personal data insofar as this is absolutely necessary to guarantee the best service. We treat your data with absolute confidentiality, and we will never rent, sell or trade your personal data to anyone. Also, we will only pass your data on to third parties for technical and compliance reasons, or because you explicitly instruct us to do so – for example, when you are switching your electricity supplier through SuperSwitcher, we obviously need to let your new supplier know.

Data protection

Faces of Design GmbH is the data controller in relation to your personal data. Our registered address is Melanchthonstrasse 23, 10557 Berlin, Germany. This means that your data are protected by German privacy and data protection laws, which are amongst the toughest and most consumer-friendly in the world.

You can find further details on our privacy and data protection policy below. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully as once you use our website and services you will be regarded as having read and accepted this Privacy Policy. Therefore, you must not use our website or our services if you do not accept this Privacy Policy.

Please also note that whenever you sign a contract with other parties (e.g. an electricity supplier you want to switch to), their data protection policy applies to any data that we need to share with them on your behalf.

Data security

We take extensive measures to protect your data. These include encryption technology (SSL-encryption), Firewalls, programmes to defend against hackers, and manual safety measures.

When you enter a protected area, you can see the symbol of a closed padlock or key at the bottom of your browser, and the website’s address starts with httpS://. This means that your data are protected by 128-bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption, and cannot be read by anyone else. Should the encryption be inactive, you should consider carefully whether you do want to transmit any sensitive data via the internet.

When you use the SuperSwitcher as a Facebook application, you may note that the website address starts with http:// instead. This is because of the way that Facebook shows application pages; however, you can rest asssured that in this particular case, your personal data and any transmissions remain fully protected - the encryption is just working in the background.

We would also like to point out that, in particular concerning email traffic, it is impossible to guarantee absolute data security on the internet – although you can rest assured that we are doing everything we can.

What data we store for you, and why

Every time you access a page operated by SuperSwitcher GmbH, our servers automatically store Log File data transmitted by your browser. These include:
•    Browsertype and version
•    Referrer URL (the page you came to us from)
•    The IP address of the computer from which you are accessing our pages
•    The amount of data transmitted
•    The file names of the pages you are visiting
•    The date and time of the server request
We only save these data for security reasons, and for statistical analysis. This helps us to provide you with the best service possible. We never match these data to your personal information, so that your usage behaviour remains anonymous.

We only ask for your personal information (e.g. your name, address and email address) under the following conditions: because it is necessary for technical reasons; to fulfill any contractual obligations to you; because you give us your consent to do so; and this is legally permitted.

We store your personal details on our systems when you enter your data on our website, for example when you switch to a new supplier or tariff, or when you contact us through other means and share personal data with us in the process. We then use these data to process your request, which may mean that we need to pass your data on to a service provider (e.g. a power supplier), or a third party comparison site that we cooperate with to provide you with the best possible service. When you order a service or sign a contract through our websites, we may carry out credit checks in cooperation with a relevant agency.

SuperSwitcher GmbH will only share your personal data with others when you explicitly instruct us to do so, for example with your chosen suppliers, and for compliance reasons. However, SuperSwitcher GmbH reserves the right to use and potentially share with others, anonymised user data: for example on users’ geographic distribution, usage patterns and demography. If so, SuperSwitcher GmbH will never link these data back to individual customer accounts and users’ personal details. Please let us know in writing if you do not want your personal data to form part of such statistical analysis.

As part of this statistical analysis, and to help us improve our services to you, SuperSwitcher uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. (“Google”). Like us, Google Analytics uses “cookies” (more on these below), to help the website analyze how users use the site. This helps us improve our service to you. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website (including your IP address) will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.

Google will use this information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website, compiling reports on website activity for us and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above.

Cookies

Our internet pages use so-called cookies in a number of places. These help us make our services to you safer, more user-friendly and more effective. Cookies are small text files that are stored on your computer and are saved by your browser (the programme you use to surf the internet with). We exclusively use so-called “session cookies”, which are automatically deleted at the end of your visit. They do not harm your computer and do not contain any viruses.

Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can, however, set your browser to reject cookies, or to let you know every time a cookie is placed. If your browser does not accept cookies, this may cause problems using parts of our offering.

Newsletters

We will only send you further information on our services or trusted third parties if you choose to receive such information. If so, we will use the email address you have chosen to share with us. If at any point you would like to stop receiving such information, you can always let us know and we will remove you from our mailing lists.
